The VSD basic solution. Control via twilight (timed with optional accessories) and manually, powered by 4x alkaline batteries Open and close it as it gets light or dark. Opens the chicken flap automatically when it gets light. Closes the chicken flap automatically when it gets dark. The light sensor is built into the unit. No separate light sensor is required if the unit is mounted on the outside of the barn. If you are installing the Doorkeeper inside the stable, please order a sensor extension, the external light sensor (ASb), in the appropriate length. You should also open and close the chicken flap manually. The magnet is held briefly against a control panel on the device, causing it to open or close. Is the unit installed indoors…? So you can’t access the control panel for manual operation? Order the extension cable (ext.SA) straight away. Place the control panel for the magnet in a location that is easily accessible to you. Battery power supply The device is powered by 4x alkaline batteries. The batteries have a service life of approx. 2-3 years, depending on the weight of the slider and general environmental conditions. This allows for a high degree of independence from mains sockets and is ideal, for example, for mobile chicken coops. The device uses an LED to indicate when the batteries are too low.A plug-in power supply (ST) or another voltage source between 6 and 12V can also be connected in parallel or as the sole power source. In the case of, for example, external batteries, such as those used in off-grid solar systems or car batteries, the supply cable must be protected by a fuse (1A max.). Further information Extension cables are available for a number of convenient functions. External light sensor (various lengths) can be connected (available as an optional extra) – for installing the unit inside the barn Extension of the manual control (various lengths) – this allows for convenient manual operation even when the unit is installed in the barn! It is possible to add a timer function by connecting an external timer (BS-D / BS2) (optional) Optimised mechanism – ensuring a long-lasting cord Slider weights of up to 3kg are possible If you need a Doorkeeper to open a pasture gate, please take a look at the pasture gate openers BZ1, BZ3 (click on the name). These are the perfect combination for this application. The VSD is only suitable in conjunction with the external timer BS-D for equine applications. As a company, we have been manufacturing devices of this type for over 40 years. We place great importance on durable products and excellent customer service at a fair price. The Electronic Doorkeeper automatically opens and closes vertical sliding doors on chicken coops. This is controlled either via the light sensor and / or a timer. Manual control is also possible, independently of the twilight and timer controls. The light sensor is fitted as standard in every unit. Therefore, no further action is required if the unit is mounted on the outside of the henhouse. If it is to be mounted inside the henhouse, a sensor extension is required. If the flap closes and there is an animal underneath it, the device stops and only continues to close once the animal has moved away. The device has an overload protection mechanism. It reacts in a way that is gentle on the cord and repeatedly attempts to open. The slider might, for example, be frozen shut. The housings of all devices in the VS series are extremely robust. The electronics are mounted on the underside of the circuit board using SMD technology and are protected by a special coating against corrosive gases, moisture and dirt. The VSD can be installed outdoors provided it is positioned in a slightly sheltered location, and it will not open during a thunderstorm (lightning). Manual operation: With this device, it is possible to close it manually during the day. To do this, hold a magnet against a specific point on the housing. The slider will close and remain closed for the rest of the day. It will open again automatically the following morning. It is also possible for you to reopen the Doorkeeper on the same day. To do this, hold the magnet against the control panel again. LED display: The device uses a multi-coloured LED to indicate, at intervals of several seconds, when: a) the batteries are flat or should be replaced b) the device must be in closed mode according to the limit switch position c) other general faults (for example, a twisted cord) The LED indicators are displayed for a limited time (for example, flap closed for up to approximately 1h after the closing process) to keep battery drain to a minimum. Possible accessories for the device: Extension of the built-in light sensor ASb: You can also install the device and the slider inside the henhouse using a light sensor extension cable. The Doorkeeper then receives the correct light signal from the sensor extension, which can be very easily fitted, for example, into the wooden wall of the henhouse, or attached in another location where it is slightly sheltered. Cable lengths of up to 6m are available. External manual operation, ext.SA:Do you want to open or close it manually with ease? An automatic chicken flap is often not conveniently accessible in order to trigger the function there. The manual control extension provides a solution to this problem. Position the control panel for the magnet in a place where you can easily reach it to hold the magnet against it. A great convenience. Cable lengths of up to 6m are available. Extension of the internal LED, ext.LED: The device occasionally displays status information. For example, it informs you when the batteries need replacing, when the flap is in the closed mode, or if there is a fault of any kind. You will not see this information if the Doorkeeper is installed indoors. With the LED extension, you can get round this problem by mounting the ext.LED in a more visible location. Furthermore, the external LED is also brighter than the internal one. External timer (accessory): If you wish to control the flap by time as well, or exclusively, you will need a separately available external timer for the VSD. We offer these timers in both battery-powered and mains-powered versions. If you intend to operate the Doorkeeper using a 12V mains adaptor plugged into a socket, you should use the mains-powered timer. We stock both digital and analogue clocks. The digital models are available in a battery-operated version (BS-D) and a mains-powered version (ZS-D). Our analogue clock is available in a battery-operated version. How it works: The timers set a time period during which the flap is definitely closed. This is usually, for example, from 10 pm until 8 am the following morning. Outside these hours, the light sensor determines whether it is opened or closed. This means that in this combination it closes in the evening at dusk, but no later than 10 pm. In the morning it opens from 8 am, provided it is light. If not, it opens as soon as it is light enough . Furthermore, it is possible to control the Doorkeeper solely by time, i.e. without the influence of the light sensor. It is not possible to operate a VSD and an older VSB together on a single timer. However, it is possible to operate several VSDs on one timer and several VSBs on another timer. Installation notes to avoid misunderstandings or problems:The device is supplied in the open position, i.e. with the cord wound up. A loop protrudes from the device. First, fit the rails, then insert the slider and pull it into the open position. Mount the device above this so that you can connect the loop on the device to the slider. This sets the upper stop… very simple. If the device does not fit directly over the open slider, mount it next to it, or elsewhere. You can now connect the loop on the device and the open slider using an extension cord, which you can then route over pulleys if necessary. The basic VSD solution. Control via twilight (timed with optional accessories) and manually, power supply by solar cell and NiMH rechargeable batteries. Electronic Doorkeeper VSD - solar version > a solar cell is built in + NiMH rechargeable batteries inserted instead of the standard alkaline batteries. Reliable, safe operation, regardless of weather and season – even if the sun takes a break. The device operates even more independently of the installation location. Installation in sunlight or good daylight illumination required. Alternatively: connection of external solar cell "Solar2b" possible. Open and close when it gets light or dark. Opens the chicken flap automatically when it gets light. Closes the chicken flap automatically when it gets dark. The light sensor is built into the device. No extra light sensor required if the device is mounted outside on the coop. If the Doorkeeper is mounted inside the coop, please order a sensor extension, the outdoor light sensor (ASb), in the appropriate length as well. Open and close the chicken flap manually as well. The magnet is briefly held against a control panel on the device, causing it to open or close. Is the device installed inside…? So you cannot reach the control panel for manual operation? Order the extension (ext.SA) at the same time. Place the control panel for the magnet in a location that is easy for you to reach. Power supply by solar Operation is via integrated rechargeable batteries, which are charged via an integrated solar cell. The device is intended for outdoor installation so that the solar cell is correspondingly illuminated. Alternatively, an external solar cell can be connected, which then takes over the function of the internal one (Solar2b). This enables a high degree of independence from power sockets and is ideal, for example, for mobile chicken coops. The device indicates via an LED when the rechargeable batteries are too deeply discharged. Further information Extensions are available for some convenient functions. External light sensor (various lengths) can be connected (optionally available) – for mounting the device inside the coop Extension of manual operation (various lengths) – this makes convenient manual operation possible even when the device is mounted in the coop! Adding a timer function by connecting an external timer switch (BS-D / BS2) possible (optional) optimised mechanics – resulting in a durable cord slider weight of up to 3kg possible If you need a Doorkeeper with which you want to open a pasture gate, then please take a look at the pasture gate openers BZ1, BZ3 (click on designation). These are the perfect combination for this application. The VSD is only suitable in combination with the external BS-D timer for horse applications. As a company, we have been manufacturing devices of this type for over 40 years. We place great value on durable products and strong customer service at a fair price. The Electronic Doorkeeper automatically opens and closes vertical sliders on chicken houses. This happens either via the light sensor and / or a timer switch. In addition, manual control is possible, independently of the twilight and timer control. The light sensor is basically built into every device. So nothing else is required if the device is mounted outside on the coop. If it is mounted inside the henhouse, a sensor extension is required. If the flap closes and there is an animal underneath, the device stops and only continues closing once the animal has moved away again. The device has overload protection. It reacts in a cord-protecting manner and repeatedly attempts to open. The slider could, for example, be frozen up. The housings of all devices in the VS series are extremely robust. The electronics are protected on the underside of the board in SMD technology with a special coating against aggressive gases, moisture and dirt. The VSD can be mounted outside if it is placed with slight protection, and it does not open during thunderstorms (lightning). Manual operation: With this device it is possible to close manually during the day. To do this, a magnet is held against a certain point on the housing. The slider is closed and remains closed for that day. It is opened again automatically the next morning. There is also the possibility to open the Doorkeeper again on the same day. To do this, the magnet is held against the control surface again. LED display: The device indicates to you at intervals of several seconds via multicolour LED when: a) the batteries are empty or replacement should be considered b) the device must be in closed mode according to the limit switch position c) further general faults (for example cord wound the wrong way) The LED indications are output for a limited time (for example flap closed for approximately up to 1h after the closing process) in order to keep the battery load as low as possible. Possible accessories for the device: Extension of the built-in light sensor ASb: With the help of a light sensor extension, you can also mount the device and the slider in the henhouse. The Doorkeeper then gets the correct light information from the sensor extension, which can be mounted very easily e.g. in the wooden wall of the henhouse, or attached in another place, slightly protected. Cable lengths up to 6m are available. External manual operation, ext.SA:Would you like to open or close manually conveniently? An automatic chicken flap is often not conveniently accessible in order to trigger the function there. With the extension of the manual operation you have a solution to the problem. Place the control panel for the magnet in a place that you can easily reach in order to hold the magnet there. A great relief. Cable lengths are available up to 6m. Extension of the internal LED, ext.LED: The device outputs status information from time to time. For example, it informs you when the batteries need to be replaced, when the flap is in closed mode or if there should generally be an error. You do not see this information if the Doorkeeper is installed inside. With the LED extension you get around the problem by mounting the ext.LED in a more visible place. In addition, the external LED is also brighter than the internal one. External timer switch (accessory): If you would also like to control the flap by time, or exclusively by time, you need a separately available external timer switch for the VSD. We have these timers as battery-operated and mains-powered versions. If you intend to operate the Doorkeeper by means of a 12V power supply unit at the socket, you should use the mains-powered timer switch. We have digital and analogue timers in our range. The digital ones are available as a battery-operated version (BS-D) and a mains-powered version (ZS-D). Our analogue timer is available as a battery version. How it works: The timers define a period during which it is definitely closed. This is generally, for example, from 10 pm until 8 am in the morning. Outside this time, the light sensor determines whether it is opened or closed. This results in this combination being closed in the evening by twilight, but by 10 pm at the latest. In the morning it opens from 8 am, provided it is light. If not, it opens as soon as it is light enough to do so. Furthermore, it is possible to control the Doorkeeper exclusively by time, i.e. without influence of the light sensor. It is not possible to operate a VSD and an older VSB together on one timer switch. However, it is possible to operate several VSDs on one timer switch and several VSBs on another timer switch. This defines the upper stop… very simple. If the device does not fit directly above the open slider, mount the device next to it, or elsewhere. You can now connect the loop of the device and the open slider with an extension cord, which you then guide over pulleys if necessary. Electronic Doorkeeper for control via an external socket-mounted timer (power on = open, power off = close) ! Important note: the required external socket timer is not included with the Doorkeeper. Please use one that suits your needs. Leave the work to your new electronic Doorkeeper. Automatic chicken coop flap control unit with a 12V power supply for operation from a mains socket via a socket-mounted timer The device allows you to control your chicken flap, for example, using your own simple socket timer or a Wi-Fi socket. For example, you could use a simple analogue timer switch from a DIY store. These are extremely easy to set up and are perfectly adequate for most applications. Do you have Wi-Fi in the henhouse and a power socket? Use a Wi-Fi socket timer to integrate your hen flap into your Wi-Fi network, or into your own preferred smart home system. Make use of the wide range of control options offered by your own Wi-Fi sockets to control the chicken flap remotely, e.g. whilst on holiday, in much the same way as you would control a lamp via Wi-Fi. For example, use the astro function on some socket timers to control it based on twilight. Simply switch the power on or off remotely to control the flap manually. Use the setting profiles in the timer app to set different switching times for different days. Closing takes place relatively slowly, whilst opening is comparatively quick. This behaviour is advantageous, as the animals want to leave the barn early in the morning. The maximum weight of approx. 2 to 2.5 kg on the device should not be exceeded. Notes: Please note that the required socket and the power supply unit must be installed in a dry indoor location. When using the 12V power supply, the overload cut-out activates relatively late. There is a risk of injury if any part of the body becomes trapped between the chicken flap or the object being opened and the device. Do not reach into the loop or between the loop and the device whilst opening. This is not a toy! Use in the presence of children should only take place under supervision! Up to 2.5 kg slider weightQuick and easy to installIdeal if you want to use your own socket timer, or if you want to integrate the chicken flap into a Wi-Fi network Sliding panels and doors are optionally available in up to three different sizes Pull cord designed for long-lasting durabilityNever be late for work again because you had to open the chicken flap first thing in the morningSave yourself extra trips and a lot of timeSave yourself arguments with your neighbours over your feathered friendsMake the most of your Sunday breakfast with your familyContinue to benefit from: Top-class customer service from a German manufacturer based in the heart of Germany(relatively short communication channels, direct contact, straightforward solutions) Fast service from a dedicated team Further options – optional or alternative items: Note: There is no control option on the device itself. A socket timer and, accordingly, a socket near the Doorkeeper are required. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, a suitable Wi-Fi signal is required for a Wi-Fi socket timer. Alternatively, any socket timer (230V, 50Hz) can be used. The mains adaptor must only be used indoors in a dry environment! Alternative product: VSF, chicken coop flap controller with integrated manual timer (just as easy to set as a standard DIY shop socket timer), and power supply via solar cell/internal rechargeable batteries.
