Product information "VSE-Solar – Automatic chicken flap with batteries and integrated timer, rechargeable batteries – solar-powered."
The VSE all-in-one solution. Controlled by twilight, timer and manually; powered by a solar cell and NiMH rechargeable batteries.
- Doorkeeper VSE - Solar version > a solar cell is fitted + NiMH rechargeable batteries installed, instead of the standard alkaline batteries.
- Reliable, safe operation, regardless of the weather or time of year – even when the sun takes a break.
- The device operates even more independently of its installation location. Installation in sunlight or with good daylight illumination is required.
- Alternatively: Connection of external solar cell "Solar2b" possible.
Automatic summer time adjustment, different switching times at weekends or on Sundays only, twilight delay (closing at dusk after nightfall), operation without mechanical buttons, up to 3kg slider weight, efficient battery operation.
Opens and closes when it gets light or dark.
- Light sensor is built into the device. No extra light sensor required if the device is mounted on the outside of the coop.
- If the Doorkeeper is mounted inside the coop, please order a sensor extension, the external light sensor (ASb), in the appropriate length as well.
- The sensitivity of the sensor is easy to adjust so that it can be adapted somewhat to the installation location and the behaviour of the animals.
- Twilight delay (closing 1 to 90 minutes after the device has detected darkness, maximum 23:45)
Integrated timer with display and menu control
- Weekend function (Saturday and Sunday and/or Sunday different settings possible)
- Separate settings possible in the morning and evening (open until 12:00, close from 12:00 to 24:00)
- Operation from outside via magnet, your key to the device
Close AND open manually if required
- A magnet is held against a control panel on the device, which triggers the function (closing or opening).
- Control panel for magnet extendable (ext.SA) = manual control, even if the device is installed in the coop. If required, please order ext.SA in the appropriate length at the same time.
Battery operation
- 4x AA alkaline batteries (AA, LR6), inexpensive and available in any supermarket.
- Battery life approx. 2 years.
- Independent of mains sockets, for example for mobile chicken coops.
- Low battery indicator (LED)

If you need a Doorkeeper with which you want to open a pasture gate, then please take a look at the pasture gate openers BZ1, BZ3 (click on designation). These are the perfect combination for this application. In some cases, the VSE is not suitable for equine applications.
A great deal is possible with the VSE. There is a suitable setting for every chicken keeper. Benefit from our top customer service, Made in Germany quality and long warranty periods. The devices can be mounted flexibly and offer a top price / performance ratio.
You operate the menu via a control magnet on the front of the lid. The housing does not need to be opened and there are no mechanical components that could break. Quite an elegant solution. You can place the magnet on the device; it stays where it is.
Manual operation
- Close the flap by holding the magnet against the housing or the extension. The flap remains closed until the next morning and then opens again automatically - without you having to do anything.
- Or open the flap again the same day. It also closes automatically that evening.
LED display:
- The device outputs status information via an LED in the housing.
-
For example that the flap must be closed according to the limit switch position (for a limited time).
-
The batteries need to be changed.
-
A condition is present that requires your attention.
The LED displays are output for a limited time. This saves power and prevents disco lighting at night in the chicken coop.
Installation
Installation is very easy: first mount the slider, pull it into the open position, mount the VSE so that you can connect it to the slider via the loop (rolled-up cord = delivery condition!). Then insert the batteries and that's it. You can also control several sliders with one VSE via deflection pulleys "UR" (see installation examples).
