VSE Settings-Videos

How to set the time, opening hours and other settings in the VSE.
Battery replacement and restart options.

1. VSE – Commissioning

  • Starting after the installation of the Doorkeeper and slide gate, as well as accessories.
  • The first start-up begins with a small start-up menu, where you set the most important details (language, time, date) once.
  • After that, the device will run optimally in most situations using our default settings.
  • You can see which other settings you can adjust, and how, in the following videos.

2. VSE - Setting the time

  • The correct time is essential for the daily settings and switching times to work properly.
  • Correct operation depends on the clock and date being set correctly, just like your alarm clock at home.
  • With poultry, every minute may not matter, but if you want the flap to open and close at the right time, you should set the time correctly.

3. Control via twilight (sensor) only

  • The device should only be opened in the morning by twilight or light.
  • Please note that this means the flap could already be open at around 4 or 5 o’clock in the summer.

4. Set opening times

  • Setting opening times using an example.
  • Opening hours can be set until 12 noon, provided the time is set correctly. After that, the “Close” setting takes effect.
  • Different opening times at the weekend are not mandatory, but an option that can be used as required (for example, if your neighbour tends to get annoyed that the animals are out too early on Sundays).

5. Setting the closing time + twilight delay

  • The closing time is configured for the entire week. A 30-minute twilight delay is set (example). This means that the flap will only close 30 minutes after the device has detected darkness.
  • If the clock’s closing time or manual closing occurs before then, the shutter will close before the 30 minutes have elapsed.

6. Reset settings

  • Resets all settings to their factory defaults.
  • The time and date are not reset.

7. Hardware reset

  • It shouldn’t be necessary, but if the VSE ever exhibits unusual behaviour or if you are unable to perform a software reset, a restart via a hardware reset usually helps.
  • Principle: both circuit boards are powered down and then powered up again after a certain period of time.
  • In the process, both devices perform a joint restart and reconnect.

Quick restart (from model year 2021 onwards, approx.)

A possible solution if the smaller circuit board gets stuck in an endless loop, e.g. after changing the battery.
Pressing the red magnet on the right-hand side will restart the large circuit board and, consequently, the smaller one as well.

Available from hardware revisions with a soldered-in light sensor (approx. year of manufacture 2021). If the sensor is not soldered in, please watch the video on performing a hardware reset (see above).

Battery replacement VSE

Important: ensure the connector is correctly seated in the lower circuit board:

  • Rev1: 13-pin socket strip > 11-pin connector > The connector is centred; one hole is left free at the front and one at the rear of the socket strip.
  • Rev2: 11-pin socket strip > 11-pin connector > The connector sits flush with the socket strip; no holes are left free in the socket strip.
Comparison of two PCB revisions: Rev2 (top) and Rev1 (bottom). Rev2 features black pin headers, a light sensor, pin header holes and a connector block with a long white end cap. Rev1 features a screw terminal, solder pads and a shorter end cap.

Connection/Selection of external light sensor

Shows the connection of the external light sensor ASb to the VSE, as well as the selection of the light sensor to be used via a jumper. When replacing the light sensor screwed onto a terminal block, the black cap is placed over the internal sensor, or the internal sensor is unscrewed if the external sensor is to be used.
