VSC Settings Videos
Set-up instructions for the VSC Doorkeeper.
Activate setup/configuration mode
To set opening and closing times, a twilight delay or to test the light sensor, setup mode must be activated. You can do this as described in the video.
You can tell if it is active when the right-hand LED is lit green continuously. Once the setting has been made, the setup mode is usually deactivated automatically.
So you only need to carry out two steps if, for example, you want to set opening hours.
Testing the light sensor
Outside of setup mode, the light sensor’s response time is very long (up to 15 minutes in the event of sudden changes). Furthermore, the detection of ‘dark’ in conjunction with closing or opening times is relevant to the internal logic. It must therefore not be disrupted by tests or similar activities.
For this reason, there is an option to test the light sensor’s functionality within setup mode. Here, the active sensor reacts almost immediately. The status of the flap outside of setup mode is saved. This feature is not intended to enable early opening at dusk or similar, but rather to verify functionality when needed. It is advisable to run the test during the day. Avoid tests in direct sunlight if possible.
VSC – Twilight delay
Set a time for the flap to close after darkness is detected. Ideal if there are still stragglers who enter the barn a little later. Possible times range from 10 to 90 minutes, although 10 to 30 minutes have proven effective in practice. If the flap remains open for too long during the dark, this can quickly become dangerous.
Disable VSC twilight delay
If you have set the twilight delay but no longer need it, you can also deactivate it again. Simply set it back to 0. You can see how to do this in the video. Simply let it count down until the LED lights up orange instead of green, whilst removing the magnet. Flashing 1-9 indicates 10-90 minutes delay, flashing 10 = delay deactivated.
Set opening time
Set an opening time for every day of the week. The flap will then open at the set time on every day of the week at the earliest, even if it gets light before then. Go to the device at the time you want it to open in future and make the setting. The device detects "darkness" in the evening. From that time in the evening until the set opening time in the morning, the flap will then remain closed. If a closing time has already been set for the evening, the flap will remain closed from the set closing time until the set opening time at the latest. If you were to set the opening time in the dark in the morning, the flap would only open once it has become light enough.
Set closing time
Set a closing time for the entire week. The flap will then close no later than the configured closing time. If it gets dark before then, the flap will close as soon as the device detects darkness. The flap stays closed from the closing time until it detects light again, or until a set opening time. If the flap is still open when the closing time is reached, it will close immediately and remain closed as described above. The switching cycles in conjunction with the timer require the device to be exposed to natural light conditions.
Set different opening hours for a single day
If you have already configured standard store hours for all days, you can still override them for a single day. For example, if you want to open a little later on Sundays than on other days.
This requires that opening hours have already been set for all days.
Error: Opening hours differ for 1 day
If opening hours have not yet been configured for all days, configuring a different opening time for just one day will result in an error.
Enabling/disabling pure time control
The VSC can only be operated using preset switching times (open/close), without taking the light sensor into account. To do this, you must set the rotary potentiometer so that the arrow points to the printed clock. You do this whilst in setup mode. There, the LEDs indicate which mode the device is in. Setup mode is not automatically exited with this setting. In pure time control mode, switching times are essential for automatic operation. You will be reminded for two days that you should set switching times by an LED flashing yellow at regular intervals. You can ignore this if you wish to control the system exclusively manually (i.e. without time and/or sensor control).
Deleting opening/closing times
If you wish to delete set opening and closing times, you can do so as described. The times are always deleted in full (opening AND closing times), provided they have been set. This function does not affect any set twilight delay. This must be set to 0 separately. If you have configured a pure time control, the device operates without opening and closing times, using only the manual control "SA".
